Concerns about Wencon (2)

Getting really concerned now about Wencon´s activities. Their environmental practices seem suspect to say the least and I fear they may be behind some fairly major environmental catastrophes. And all for a fast buck too. I know I shouldn´t be whining publicly about all this, but the more I look, the more I seem to find evidence of quite seriously destructive activities.

I´ve already had a letter from their lawyers (and they´ve a lot of them) warning me away, but it´ll take more than the threat of words to put me off. Also got suspicions that they may have something to do with the 'accidental' loss of my last blog - there´s some powerful people involved here. To close to the truth I fear..

77 ways to celebrate World Environment Day 2007

Thinking about how to do my bit to celebrate World Environment Day this year and found these 77 ways. Not sure if I´ll manage them all in one day, but I reckon I could manage one or two no problem. With so much of my time spent on bonsai cultivation (see previous posts) in past few months, I don´t really have the time to organise anything big this year. Will still be doing my bit for the planet in ways that may not be immediately obvious to most.

Final nail of the earth´s coffin is in our hands

Been following this current panic about the depleted oil stocks carefully (see this) and not sure if I´m sypathetic or just plain glad that this crisis has come so soon. We´re going to have to bang our heads together to sort out some alternative to our previous addiction to oil sooner or later, and there´s nothing like an international crisis to kick start the process.

My biggest concern is that the world doesn´t turn into the apocalyptic nightmare that Chuck Vanderberg describes in his book about the state of the world in 2083, After the Sunshine. When organisations like the World Environment Consortium do their utmost to sell what few resources are left to the companies with the deepest pockets, then a world without oil is likely to be a pretty grim one.

Our greatest hope is to combine our collective will and an energy for a future our own grandchildren deserve. My own small contribution to this is ´bonsai cultivation´. Through appreciation of the true art of bonsai, we will come to appreciate and cherish the value of nature.

If we don´t start doing something soon, it looks like future generations will have our generation to thank for banging in the final nail of the earth´s coffin.

Concerns about WENCON

I know that I shouldn´t really be publicly bad-mouthing the organisation that my own brother works for, but WENCON´s reputation for questionable environmental practices has been weighing on my mind for too long. As a lawyer, I´ve always felt that truth is the only path to justice, and we are all duty bound to let that truth be known. But perhaps not if it puts the lives of other in danger, right?

So, much that I´d like to make public what I know about WENCON´s practices, I must remain tongue-tied for the sake of others close to me, and merely suggest to other individuals, groups and organisations to be very wary of collaborating with this so-called ´environmental´ consortium. I fear the economic value of the earth´s few resources are their only real concern. It doesn´t take a genius to predict what their current policies will do for the planet of future generations.

Big Foot

Calculated my environmental footprint again today - scary stuff - even though I think I´m doing my best to keep my impact down by riding my bike to work (except when it rains i must admit), and cutting down on cheap flights (or trying at least), it still keeps on going up each year. Try out the footprint calculator when you get the chance. Any ideas for making my footprint smaller welcome! (Except cutting my toenails wiseguy)

Bonsai for life!

Just realised that with the loss of all my blog posts for last few years, there´s nothing to help those of you that were directed here looking for ways to help the future of the planet. Cultivating bonsai is the best way we´ve found for protecting the earth´s future. Our bonsai appreciation site has all you need to know about our collective, and how you might be able to help us achieve our aims. Look carefully once you find the site - to really appreciate the beauty of nature, we often have to look deeper!

The day after the night before

I'm not exactly sure what's happened but armageddon has befallen "Bindu's Blog". Everything has disappeared!

Yep, all my posts from the last three years of blogging have been flushed down the great web waste pipe. I've tried everything and everyone but nadda. Blogger support have been very good but they don't have any answers that seem to work. Moving servers around in some back room at Google I suppose. Some new year this has turned out to be

So what now?

Well I'm going to have to start again. This blogging bug is hard to kick. I have some bits and pieces on my computer and I'll try to post some of the best bits that I can salvage. Some of the things I've said I can kind of remember and of course I still have lots of pictures around the www.

But it's going to look like I've done a lot of posting in the next few weeks and months while I get "Bindu's Blog" up and running again!
